Pimpri-Chinchwad, March 25, 2026: In a move aimed at easing administrative processes for citizens, local MLA Shankar Jagtap has urged the state government to approve a separate stamp duty and registration office for Pimpri-Chinchwad. The proposal is intended to reduce the need for residents to travel to Pune for property-related work.

Jagtap recently met Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the state’s Revenue Minister, and submitted a formal request. According to him, the minister has responded positively to the proposal, raising hopes for quicker approval.

With rapid urban expansion and a surge in real estate transactions, Pimpri-Chinchwad has emerged as one of the fastest-growing industrial and residential hubs in the region. Despite generating substantial revenue through stamp duty collections, residents still depend on Pune-based offices for several post-registration services.

Currently, people from areas such as Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Wakad, Thergaon, Pimple Gurav, Pimple Saudagar, Sangvi, Akurdi, and Ravet are required to travel to Pune for tasks like stamp duty refunds, document corrections, and filing appeals. Although several sub-registrar offices operate within municipal limits, their administration is controlled from Pune, often leading to delays and inconvenience.

Jagtap stated that establishing an independent “Additional District Registrar (Class I) and District Collector of Stamps” office in Pimpri-Chinchwad would streamline these services and significantly reduce the time and cost burden on citizens.

He further emphasized that such a step would align with the government’s focus on improving governance and administrative efficiency. Faster and more accessible services at the local level would benefit residents and support the broader vision of citizen-centric governance.

Highlighting recent reforms in the revenue department, Jagtap noted that increased transparency and simplified procedures have already benefited many citizens, especially in rural areas. He expressed confidence that setting up a dedicated office in Pimpri-Chinchwad would further strengthen these efforts.

The MLA also stated that the initiative would support the governance vision promoted by Narendra Modi and Devendra Fadnavis, aimed at making public services more efficient and accessible.

If approved, the new office is expected to provide faster, localised services for property registration and related procedures, bringing significant relief to residents across the rapidly growing urban region.
