Pune, March 28, 2026: A new police chowki will soon be constructed in Ramtekdi, with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar performing the groundbreaking ceremony. The initiative comes in response to long-standing demands from local residents for improved security in the area. The programme was held today.

The police outpost is being developed with support from the Naiknavare family, known for their presence in the real estate sector. The ceremony was attended by Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajlaxmi Shivankar, Slum Rehabilitation Authority CEO Satishkumar Khadke, and local corporator Hemlata Magar, among others.

Focus on Strengthening Law and Order

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar highlighted that the state government has approved 12 new police stations for Pune and that a major recruitment drive is underway, with around 1,800 personnel being inducted. He said the increased manpower will help manage expanding policing needs across the city.

Highlighting concerns in Ramtekdi, where around 30,000 residents live in slum areas, Kumar directed officials to map the locality, identify individuals involved in illegal activities, and track juvenile offenders. He stressed the importance of rehabilitation but added that strict action would be taken if individuals fail to reform.

Quick Response to Local Concerns

Referring to a previous incident in October, Kumar said a temporary police chowki was set up within 24 hours in a shipping container after residents raised safety concerns. He reiterated that the goal is to eliminate crime and improve law and order in the area.

Infrastructure and Development Plans

The upcoming police chowki will be a modern three-storey structure aimed at enhancing security in Ramtekdi. Officials said the project received swift approval once the construction blueprint was submitted.

MLA Chetan Tupe also called for improvements in civic infrastructure, urging organizations like CREDAI to take up renovation of a municipal school in the area.

SRA CEO Satishkumar Khadke said the new facility would act as a strong security presence for the locality. Meanwhile, developer Hemant Naiknavare shared plans for future development, including a hospital, improved public amenities, and recreational spaces. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to provide free education support to children in the area.

Ranjit Naiknavare stated that construction of the police chowki will be completed on priority, with plans to inaugurate the facility around Dussehra.

The project is expected to significantly improve policing infrastructure and public safety in the rapidly growing Ramtekdi area.
