IMD warns of thunderstorms and rainfall in Marathwada and Western Maharashtra, while heatwave conditions persist in Vidarbha and North Maharashtra

Maharashtra, March 28: The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, warning that the next 24 hours will be critical as unseasonal rainfall is expected in several regions, particularly Marathwada and Western Maharashtra.

According to the forecast for Sunday, March 29, a mixed weather pattern will prevail across the state. While parts of Konkan, North Maharashtra, and Vidarbha will continue to experience hot and dry conditions, isolated areas in Marathwada and Western Maharashtra are likely to receive thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall.

In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, and Sindhudurg, hot and humid conditions are expected. Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 33°C and 35°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 24°C and 26°C.

Western Maharashtra, including Pune, Nashik, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur, is expected to witness a change in weather conditions. Day temperatures may range between 34°C and 37°C, with minimum temperatures between 20°C and 23°C. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely in the afternoon hours. Rainfall is expected in Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur districts, with a yellow alert issued for Sangli and Solapur.

North Maharashtra districts such as Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Nashik will continue to experience hot and dry weather. Temperatures in Nashik are expected to range between 34°C and 36°C.

In Marathwada, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Beed, and Dharashiv, heatwave conditions are likely to persist. Maximum temperatures may reach 36°C to 39°C, while minimum temperatures could range between 22°C and 25°C. However, isolated thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast in Latur, Dharashiv, and Nanded. A yellow alert has been issued for Latur and Dharashiv districts.

Vidarbha region, including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, is expected to record the highest temperatures in the state. Maximum temperatures may soar between 38°C and 41°C, with minimum temperatures ranging from 24°C to 27°C.

Overall, Maharashtra continues to face hot and dry weather conditions, with the possibility of sudden thunderstorms and unseasonal rain in some regions. Citizens, especially farmers, are advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid weather-related risks.
