Pune: Khed Shivapur Toll Hike Raises Cost Of Pune–Satara Travel
Pune, April 2, 2026: Travel on the Pune–Satara highway has become more expensive from April 1, after a toll revision was implemented at the Khed Shivapur toll plaza. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges by around 3 percent across all vehicle categories.
Along with the hike, a major change has been introduced in the payment system. Cash transactions have been completely discontinued at the toll plaza, and payments are now accepted only through FASTag or digital modes. Vehicles without a valid FASTag or sufficient balance may have to pay a penalty, including double toll charges.
Officials said the move aims to reduce congestion at toll booths and improve transparency in the collection process. However, the increase is expected to impact daily commuters and transporters who frequently travel between Pune and Satara.
Revised Toll Rates at Khed Shivapur (from April 1, 2026):
- Car/Jeep/Van: ₹125 (one way), ₹185 (return)
- Light Commercial Vehicles: ₹200 (one way), ₹295 (return)
- Bus/Truck: ₹415 (one way), ₹620 (return)
- Three-axle vehicles: ₹650 (one way), ₹975 (return)
- Multi-axle vehicles (4–6): ₹650 (one way), ₹975 (return)
- Heavy vehicles (7+ axles): ₹790 (one way), ₹1,190 (return)
Authorities have advised commuters to ensure sufficient balance in their FASTag accounts before travel to avoid delays at toll plazas.
For local residents, discounted monthly passes for non-commercial vehicles will continue, offering some relief for regular users.
With thousands of vehicles using the Pune–Satara route daily, the revised toll rates are expected to increase travel expenses, particularly for frequent commuters and commercial transport operators.
