Pune: Clerk Accused of Embezzling ₹37 Lakh from Nanded City Public School via Fake Records
PUNE: In a major financial fraud at the renowned Vidya Pratishthan’s Nanded City Public School, a clerk allegedly siphoned off ₹36,99,988 through internet banking, transferring the funds to his wife’s account by creating fake records, according to a police complaint.
The complaint was filed by the school principal, Vandana Sachin Joshi (55, Chandragaon Society, Ambegaon Budruk), at the Nanded City Police Station. Following the complaint, police have registered a case against Rajendra Anpat and Ashwini Anpat alias Ashwini Tarate (Yutika Enclave, Kolhewadi). The alleged embezzlement took place between November 5, 2024, and June 3, 2025, at Pawar Public School in Nanded City.
Vidya Pratishthan is a prominent institution founded by senior leader Sharad Pawar, with treasurer Yugendra Srinivas Pawar and Managing Trustee Supriya Sule. Rajendra Anpat was employed as a clerk at the school.
According to the complaint, Anpat transferred the money to his wife Ashwini’s account without the institution’s consent and fabricated school records to cover the transactions. The fraud, totaling ₹36,99,988, came to light during the institution’s audit.
Senior Police Inspector Atul Bhose confirmed that the Nanded City Police have registered a case of financial fraud. Rajendra Anpat has been summoned for questioning, and further action will follow based on the investigation.
