Pune - Hubballi Vande Bharat Express Stalled For 2 Hours; Passengers Face Major Inconvenience
Pune, May 5, 2026: Passengers aboard the Pune–Hubballi Vande Bharat Express faced significant inconvenience on Monday after the train was halted for nearly two hours due to a technical fault shortly after departing from Pune.
According to railway officials, the issue occurred in the train’s pantograph system – a critical component responsible for drawing electric power from overhead lines. The fault developed soon after the train crossed Nira railway station, leading to a complete disruption in power supply and forcing the train to stop on the tracks.

The train departed from Pune railway station at around 2:15 pm. Soon after the disruption was reported, officials from the railway’s electrical department rushed to the spot and began inspection and repair work. It took approximately two hours to rectify the fault and restore operations.
The unexpected delay caused considerable discomfort to passengers, many of whom were left stranded inside the stationary train. The disruption also had a cascading impact on other services, with the Goa Express departing from Pune towards Goa reportedly delayed by nearly an hour.
This incident comes just days after a coach of the Mumbai–Solapur Vande Bharat Express derailed near Pune railway station — an event that raised concerns about the reliability of the semi-high-speed trains. Monday’s technical snag has further added to those concerns among regular passengers.
The Pune–Hubballi Vande Bharat Express remains a popular choice for travellers due to its direct connectivity and comfort, especially during the summer season when demand for air-conditioned travel is high. Despite its higher ticket prices, the train usually runs at full capacity.
Railway authorities have initiated an inquiry into both the recent incidents. Senior officials confirmed that investigations are being conducted by officers of appropriate rank, and necessary action will be taken based on the findings.
