Pune, May 6, 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to begin work on a Development Plan (DP) for the 23 villages recently incorporated into the city limits, stressing that a comprehensive structural plan must be prepared first.

The directive was issued during a meeting of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority held in Mumbai, attended by senior officials and public representatives. The move is aimed at streamlining planning in rapidly expanding suburban areas.

According to the Chief Minister, preparing a structural framework before finalising the Development Plan will ensure more organised and sustainable growth in the long run.

These 23 villages were earlier under PMRDA’s jurisdiction for construction permissions, which often led to confusion, delays, and overlapping responsibilities. With recent changes, the authority to grant building permissions has been transferred to PMC, allowing it to take full control of planning and development.

Following the government’s directive, PMC has initiated work on the structural plan, which will serve as the foundation for the final Development Plan. Officials believe this approach will improve coordination and accelerate infrastructure development in these newly merged areas.

The villages included in this expansion are Mhalunge, Sus, Bavdhan Budruk, Kirkatwadi, Pisoli, Kondhave Dhawade, Kopre, Nanded, Khadakwasla, Manjari Budruk, Narhe, Holkarwadi, Autade Handewadi, Wadachiwadi, Shewalewadi, Nandoshi, Sansnagar, Mangdewadi, Bhilarewadi, Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi, Jambhulwadi, Kolhewadi and Wagholi.
