Purandar International Airport Land Acquisition Begins; 450 Acres Acquired On Day One, Farmers Offered Major Compensation Package
Pune, May 7, 2026: The land acquisition process for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport in Purandar has officially begun, with authorities successfully completing agreements for nearly 450 acres of land on the very first day of the drive.
Officials said the acquisition process started on May 4 and is being implemented on a “first come, first serve” basis. Farmers signing the agreements are being assured immediate payment through RTGS transfer after completion of formalities.

The Maharashtra government has also announced an enhanced compensation package for landowners affected by the airport project. Under the revised package, farmers will receive compensation of Rs 1.61 crore per acre.
Apart from direct compensation, affected farmers will also receive additional benefits, including return of 10 percent developed land in the proposed AeroCity project coming up near the airport. The government has also promised employment to one member from each affected family.
Jitendra Dudi said the state government is giving special priority to the Purandar airport project and has designed the package to provide substantial financial benefits to landowners.
According to officials, when the value of the developed plots and other benefits is included, the overall compensation is estimated to reach nearly Rs 2 crore per acre for farmers.
The formal land acquisition process is scheduled to begin from May 7 at the District Collector’s office and Saswad divisional office. Authorities aim to complete the entire process by June 10.
The proposed airport project requires land from seven villages in Purandar taluka. Around 1,216 hectares are needed for the airport itself, while an additional 245 hectares will be used for the AeroCity development.
Officials said more than 400 families from the affected villages have already submitted consent documents and land records for the acquisition process.
Farmers who hand over their land before the June 10 deadline will be eligible for the 10 percent developed plot benefit in AeroCity. After the deadline, the government may initiate compulsory land transfer procedures, and the additional benefits may no longer apply.
The villages affected by the airport project include Udachiwadi, Vanpuri, Kumbharvalan, Khanwadi, Munjwadi, Ekhatpur, and Pargaon.
