Pune, May 7, 2026: In a major step towards sustainable living and energy conservation, Gini Viviana Society in Balewadi has commissioned an 84.3 kW solar energy project to power its common infrastructure and reduce electricity expenses.

Society members said the project is expected to generate annual savings of nearly Rs 20 lakh on electricity bills, making it a long-term financial and environmental investment for the residential complex.

The project was financed through an overdraft facility secured against the society’s fixed deposits. To ensure smooth planning and execution, the housing society formed a dedicated “Solar Core Committee” that supervised the initiative from concept to implementation.

The committee included Society President Snehal Kumar Gupta, Secretary Pankaj Thareja, along with members Rasik Vaghela, B S Wakchoure, Sudhir Varodia, Mehboob Mulla and other residents who actively contributed to the project.

The solar installation will supply electricity to all common facilities within the society, including water pumps and shared utility areas. Residents believe the initiative will significantly lower dependency on conventional power sources while helping reduce the society’s carbon footprint.

The eco-friendly initiative undertaken by the Balewadi-based housing society is now being viewed as a model for other residential communities in Pune looking to adopt renewable energy solutions and sustainable practices.
