Pune: Rakshak Chowk Flyover Nears Completion; Signal-Free Travel From Aundh To Kiwale Soon
Pimpri-Chinchwad, May 7, 2026: The construction of the much-awaited flyover at Rakshak Chowk in Pimple Nilakh has entered its final phase, and the project is expected to soon provide signal-free and congestion-free travel from Aundh to Sangvi Phata and further from Ravet to Kiwale.
The progress of the project was recently reviewed under the guidance of Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap. Detailed information regarding the project was shared by Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne following an inspection visit and review meeting held at the public relations office in Pimple Gurav.

During the inspection, former corporators Aarti Chondhe and Sneha Kalate, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase, social activists Sanket Chondhe, Prasad Kaspate and Sunny Barne, along with officials from concerned departments, were present.
Rakshak Chowk is considered one of the city’s most critical traffic junctions. Officials stated that discussions were held on a war footing to ensure timely completion of the flyover and improve overall traffic management in the area.
Special emphasis was also placed on planning the BRT bus movement connected to the project. Authorities have been instructed to prioritise the safety and convenience of bus commuters. Officials were also directed to immediately conduct a comprehensive safety audit of the bridge structure, including the railings and other related work.
According to civic officials, the flyover is expected to significantly reduce travel time and fuel consumption for commuters while improving traffic flow along the Sangvi-Kiwale BRT corridor.
Speaking about the project, Abhishek Barne said the administration is focused on completing the flyover with high quality standards and within the stipulated timeline. He added that strict instructions have been issued regarding commuter safety and safety audits to ensure secure travel once the bridge is opened to the public.
Authorities said the project is part of the larger effort to strengthen infrastructure and improve transportation facilities in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The flyover is expected to be opened for public use soon after the remaining work and safety checks are completed.
