Pune, May 10: Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the state will implement the Land Titling Act from July, making Maharashtra the first state in the country to bring such a law into force. He said the new legislation will provide legal certainty to property ownership for nearly 14 crore citizens, making their assets recognised as confirmed property that can be monetised anywhere in the world.
Bawankule was speaking as the chief guest at the 62nd foundation day programme of Bharati Vidyapeeth in Pune. State Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Bharati Vidyapeeth executive director Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Chancellor Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Salvi and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Bawankule praised the contribution of late Dr. Patangrao Kadam in the education sector, calling his work a matter of pride for Maharashtra. He said Dr. Kadam’s vision transformed a small local school into a globally recognised educational institution.
Highlighting the importance of technology in education, Bawankule said the state government has signed investment agreements worth ₹1,500 crore under its Artificial Intelligence policy. He added that training has already begun for 1.5 lakh students in AI technology and stressed that universities must adopt emerging technologies to remain relevant in the future.
He also said students no longer need stamp papers for educational documents, as various certificates are now being made available free of cost. Under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Revenue Campaign, the government is working to deliver essential documents free of charge to 30 lakh students across the state.
Bawankule said the government is committed to people-centric, transparent and efficient governance, inspired by the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also expressed hope for the expansion of Bharati Vidyapeeth in Nagpur and assured government support, including land allocation if needed.
Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, while addressing the gathering, said education remains the strongest path for social progress. He recalled the contributions of Padma Bhushan Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil and late Dr. Patangrao Kadam in building educational movements for the common people.
Bhuse said the government is focusing on quality education for rural and underprivileged students, while also promoting AI education, military training, self-defence training for girls, teacher development programmes, and improved school infrastructure including clean drinking water and sanitation facilities.
He also stressed the need for practical efforts to strengthen Marathi-medium schools and called on Bharati Vidyapeeth to create a model of high-quality education accessible to poor and ordinary students.
During the programme, Bharati Vidyapeeth executive director Vishwajeet Kadam highlighted the institution’s 62-year journey, its social contributions, and its work in the field of education.
