Major Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway Near Missing Link, 3 Heavy Containers Overturn; 2 Dead
Pune, May 15: A major accident was reported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near the Missing Link section late on Friday, causing heavy traffic disruption on the busy route. According to preliminary information, three heavy container trucks were involved in the crash around Kilometer 38 on the expressway.
Two persons are feared dead in the accident, while rescue and emergency operations are currently underway at the spot. Officials said the impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the containers overturning on the highway.
Large quantities of goods, including paint-like chemical material carried by the trucks, spilled across the road after the accident. Due to the scattered debris and damaged vehicles, only one lane of the expressway remains operational, leading to a major traffic slowdown in the area.
Police, highway authorities, rescue teams, and other emergency agencies have reached the accident site and are working to clear the road and restore traffic movement. Further details regarding the identities of the deceased and the exact cause of the accident are awaited.
