Pune, May 16, 2026: Residents of Megapolis Township in Hinjawadi Phase 3 have launched a collective campaign demanding urgent intervention from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) over deteriorating road conditions, rising dust pollution and growing safety concerns on the stretch connecting Megapolis Sparklet Bus Stop to Megapolis Circle.

In a public appeal circulated among residents, citizens described the condition of the MIDC road as “critical and unacceptable,” highlighting the daily hardships faced by thousands of commuters, families and school students using the route.

According to the appeal, the damaged road stretch is heavily used by residents of several housing societies including Sunway, Sparklet, Splendour, Mystic, Sangria and Serenity, along with students travelling to and from PPS School. Residents alleged that the road has become unsafe due to potholes, broken pavements, excessive dust pollution, drainage issues and non-functional street lights.

Citizens also claimed that mud and debris from construction vehicles linked to multiple ongoing real estate projects in the area are worsening the situation, leading to poor visibility and increased health hazards. The appeal stated that dust from the road is entering homes, parks and common areas, severely impacting the quality of life of residents.

The document further mentioned that pedestrian pathways have become unusable in several locations, creating risks for school children and senior citizens. Residents alleged that despite repeated complaints to MIDC authorities, no long-term corrective action has been implemented so far.

As part of the campaign, residents have urged citizens to file complaints through MIDC’s online grievance portal and send emails to senior MIDC officials demanding immediate action. The residents’ demands include complete road resurfacing, restoration of footpaths, strict action against builders violating transportation norms, regular road cleaning, proper drainage systems, removal of encroachments and repair of street lights.

The appeal describes the issue not merely as an infrastructure problem, but as a growing public health and safety crisis affecting over 25,000 residents in the area every day. Citizens are now hoping that collective pressure and large-scale complaints will compel authorities to take urgent measures to restore safe and accessible road conditions in Hinjawadi Phase 3.
