The car reportedly smashed into six two-wheelers and an autorickshaw on the road before crashing directly into a shop on the opposite side. CCTV footage of the accident has surfaced online and is being widely shared on social media due to the severity of the impact.

Police identified the deceased child as Yashraj Nilesh Kamble, 4, a resident of Narhe in Pune. The child suffered serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to Jagtap Hospital on Sinhagad Road for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead at around 6:40 pm during treatment.

The collision also left three to four other civilians seriously injured. Several vehicles involved in the crash were badly damaged due to the force of the impact.

Police have taken the accused driver, identified as Amol Gorakshnath Gegde, 32, into custody. He is a resident of Rajapur in Ahilyanagar district. His companion, Prakash Tatyaram Kothare, 32, from Rajgurunagar in Pune district, was also detained after the incident.

Both individuals were sent to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for medical examination. Police officials are investigating whether rash driving, speeding or intoxication contributed to the accident.

Soon after receiving information about the crash, police teams rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama. A case is being registered against the accused driver, and further investigation is underway under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector of Nanded Police Station.

The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and road safety in Pune, especially in busy suburban areas where pedestrians and local commuters remain vulnerable to high-speed accidents.
