Pune, May 18, 2026: The Pune Traffic Police has announced revised traffic regulations for Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) mixer vehicles following a joint meeting with the RMC Association. The new rules aim to reduce traffic congestion and inconvenience on city roads while providing limited relaxation for RMC vehicle movement during specific hours.

The order has been issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City, under powers granted through provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Maharashtra Government Home Department notification dated September 27, 1996.

As per the revised notification:

* RMC mixer vehicles will receive relaxation during morning peak hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

* Evening peak-hour restrictions imposed under the earlier February 5, 2025 notification will continue unchanged.

* In Red Zone areas, only RMC vehicles that have obtained prior permission from the DCP Traffic office will be allowed relaxation during morning peak hours on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays. Evening restrictions will remain mandatory.

The traffic police have identified several major roads and junctions under the city’s “Red Zone,” where entry restrictions for RMC vehicles will continue. These include stretches around Nagar Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Baner Road, Pashan-Sus Road, Paud Road, Karve Road, Sinhagad Road, Satara Road, Solapur Road and Kondhwa, among others.

Key restricted junctions include:

* Viman Nagar Chowk towards Datta Mandir Chowk

* Shastrinagar Chowk towards Kalyani Nagar

* Bremen Chowk towards University Chowk and Aundh Parihar Chowk

* Rajaram Bridge towards Swargate

* Market Yard Junction towards Swargate

* Lullanagar Chowk towards Bhairobanala and Gangadham

The Pune Traffic Police has also made several safety measures mandatory for RMC operators:

* Installation of 360-degree cameras on all RMC vehicles or deployment of a cleaner/helper with the vehicle within one month.

* Every RMC plant operator must install a DD machine to inspect mixer vehicles before they exit the plant premises.

* The revised regulations will remain on a trial basis for one month.

The police clarified that no relaxation or changes have been granted for the movement of other heavy vehicles such as dumpers and trucks.

The notification has been circulated to all traffic divisions and civic authorities for implementation across Pune city.
