A 41-year-old woman has been booked after allegedly creating a ruckus at Narhe Police Chowki in Pune and disrupting official police work. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by a police sub-inspector attached to the outpost.

According to police, the woman had visited the police chowki on May 27 in connection with a complaint she had lodged. Police officials said that action had already been taken on her complaint and a non-cognisable offence had been registered against the person concerned.

However, the woman reportedly became upset over the nature of the action taken and questioned why a more serious case had not been registered. Police said she began shouting inside the police station and allegedly abused officers on duty.

Despite repeated requests from police personnel to calm down and leave the premises, the woman allegedly continued creating a disturbance. Officials said the incident disrupted routine operations at the police chowki and affected the handling of complaints and other administrative work for some time.

Following the commotion, police sent the woman to Sassoon General Hospital for a medical examination. The report submitted by doctors confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

After receiving the medical report, police registered a case against her for allegedly obstructing government work, creating a public disturbance and misbehaving with police personnel.

Authorities stated that disrupting public order inside government offices or interfering with the duties of public servants is a punishable offence under the law. Police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals who obstruct official work or create disturbances in public institutions.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
