Woman plots man’s kidnapping after marriage proposal is rejected
Pune: A 29-year-old man from Shindewadi in Haveli taluka was allegedly kidnapped by a group of people who wanted to force him into marrying a woman. Police acted quickly and rescued the man within four hours, arresting seven people and detaining a minor in connection with the case.
According to the Lonikand police, the victim’s brother called the police control room on Wednesday night, reporting that unidentified people had abducted him near a petrol pump on the Pune-Nagar Highway and taken him away in a white vehicle.
Police teams immediately launched a search operation. During the investigation, officers learned that the man had been assaulted and kidnapped as part of a plan to force him into marriage.
With the help of CCTV footage and local police, the victim was traced and rescued from Majalgaon in Beed district. He works at a company in Koregaon Bhima.
Investigators found that the victim and the woman, both originally from Parbhani district, had known each other for the past three years. The woman reportedly wanted to marry him, but he had refused. Police said she then allegedly planned the abduction with the help of her associates and was taking him to Parbhani.
The arrested accused include Sudam Tathe, Sheikh Sohel Sheikh Afasar, Devidas Pajange, Vaibhav Shelke, Sarang Kakde, Prasad Gawli and Sonali Nirwal, all residents of Parbhani district.
Police said the woman had conspired with the other accused to kidnap the man and pressure him into marrying her.
