Pune: Woman Critically Injured After Being Attacked At Army Hospital Parking In Wanowrie
Pune, June 8, 2026: A 44-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after she was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon inside the parking area of Army Institute of Cardio Thoracic Sciences (AICTS) Hospital in Wanowrie on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the accused, identified as Sachin Mandhave, a resident of Satara, is known to the victim, Geeta Rathod. Preliminary investigations suggest that personal differences and an ongoing financial dispute may have led to the violent incident.
Police said the accused allegedly confronted Rathod in the hospital parking area and an argument ensued. During the altercation, he reportedly abused her before attacking her with a sharp object. The victim suffered severe injuries to her eye, face, and neck.
Following the assault, Rathod collapsed at the scene. People nearby rushed to her aid, while the accused allegedly fled before police arrived. The injured woman was immediately shifted for medical treatment and remains in critical condition.
Wanowrie Police have registered an attempted murder case and launched a search for the accused. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including the motive behind the attack and the nature of the dispute between the two individuals.
