Pune, June 8, 2026: A dramatic case of police impersonation came to light in Pune’s Camp area on Saturday when a 25-year-old woman posing as a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) was exposed and arrested after a genuine police officer noticed a critical error in her uniform.

The incident took place at a reputed skin clinic near Victory Theatre, where patients had gathered for consultations as usual. Claiming to be exhausted after a night shift, the woman, dressed in a police uniform, allegedly attempted to use her supposed official status to secure an earlier appointment with the doctor. Her plan appeared to be working until a real police officer present at the clinic became suspicious.

According to the Lashkar Police, the accused has been identified as Samina Aafis Inamdar alias Samina Pathan (25), a resident of Mhalunge. Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Bhagwan Shinde from Lashkar Police Station was at Sanjeevan Skin Clinic around 10 a.m. on June 6 when he noticed Samina arriving in full police uniform.

Although she had carefully dressed as a police officer, she made a crucial mistake. Police regulations require a name badge to be worn on the right side of the uniform. However, Samina had placed hers on the left side. The discrepancy immediately caught the attention of the experienced officer, raising doubts about her identity.

When questioned about her posting, Samina confidently claimed that she was attached to Baner Police Station and had come directly to the clinic after completing her night duty. However, inconsistencies in her responses and her lack of familiarity with police procedures further strengthened suspicions. Female police personnel were called to the clinic, and Samina was taken into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, she admitted that she was not associated with any police department and had impersonated a PSI solely to obtain priority treatment at the clinic. Investigators later learned that she had completed her Class 12 education and had long aspired to join the police force. However, her dream remained unfulfilled, leading to a fascination with the khaki uniform. To gain VIP treatment and avoid waiting in long queues for treatment, she allegedly purchased a police uniform from the market and staged the impersonation.

Lashkar Police have registered a case of cheating and impersonation against her and are investigating whether she had previously misused the police identity elsewhere.
