Pune, June 11, 2026: In a crackdown on environmental violations, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has imposed fines of ₹25,000 each on four residential societies in the NIBM Annexe in Mohamadwadi for discharging untreated sewage water into a nearby nala.
The action was taken against Maple Tower, Elina Living, Raheja Sterling and Ganga Kingston after PMC officials found evidence of sewage being released into the drainage channel, in violation of environmental and sanitation norms.
PMC officials confirmed the action and stated that the societies were found discharging sewage water into the nala, posing potential health and hygiene risks to residents in the surrounding area.
This is not the first such action in the locality. Earlier, PMC had penalised Hotel Beacon, located near Elina Living, for a similar violation involving the discharge of wastewater into the drainage system.
The latest enforcement action follows repeated complaints raised by members of the NIBM Annexe Residents Forum, including Jaymala Dhankikar and other residents, who highlighted concerns over public health, sanitation and environmental pollution caused by the alleged illegal discharge.
