Central Railway has announced a nine-hour infrastructure block at Pune Yard on June 14, leading to the cancellation, diversion, short termination and rescheduling of several suburban and long-distance train services.

Rail passengers travelling to and from Pune on June 14 are likely to face major disruptions as Central Railway’s Pune Division has announced a nine-hour special traffic and maintenance block at Pune Yard.

The block will remain in effect from 8 am to 5 pm and has been planned to facilitate engineering, Signal and Telecommunication (S&T), and Overhead Equipment (OHE) works related to the replacement of DDS Point No. 208/209 on the Pune-Daund section.

During the block period, Platforms 3 and 4 at Pune Railway Station will not be available for train movements from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) side.

As a result, nine train services have been fully cancelled, affecting both suburban commuters and long-distance passengers. The cancelled trains include Pune–Nagpur Express, Nagpur–Pune Express, Pune–Daund DEMU, Baramati–Pune DEMU, Satara–Pune DEMU, Pune–Talegaon suburban services and the CSMT Mumbai–Pune and Pune–CSMT Mumbai Express services.

The cancellations are expected to impact daily commuters as well as passengers travelling between Pune and several major destinations.

Railway authorities have also announced that nine trains will be short-terminated at intermediate stations such as Shivajinagar, Khadki and Hadapsar. Several suburban services operating between Lonavla, Talegaon and Pune will not reach their usual destinations. Long-distance trains from Jaipur, Jammu Tawi, Amravati and Mumbai will also be partially curtailed.

In addition, eight trains will originate from stations other than Pune, resulting in partial cancellation of their scheduled journeys. Multiple Pune-bound suburban services towards Lonavla and Talegaon will commence from Shivajinagar instead of Pune. Pune–Jaipur Express and Pune–CSMT Mumbai Express will originate from Khadki, while Pune–Kolhapur Express will start from Satara.

Two long-distance trains are also expected to face delays due to en-route regulation. Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Mumbai–SMVT Bengaluru Express and Gwalior–Daund Express will each be detained for around 30 minutes in the Lonavla–Pune section.

Passengers travelling on the Pune–Rani Kamalapati Express (Train No. 22171) should also note that the train has been rescheduled on June 14. Instead of its scheduled departure at 3.15 pm, the train will now leave Pune at 7.55 pm, resulting in a delay of approximately four hours and 40 minutes.

Railway officials said the infrastructure work is essential to improve operational safety, signalling efficiency and overall rail operations in the Pune Yard area.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest train schedules and running status before starting their journey through the NTES mobile application or the official Indian Railways enquiry portal.

The nine-hour maintenance block is expected to affect train operations throughout the day, making advance planning crucial for commuters and long-distance travellers.
