Pune, June 11, 2026: A youth was injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him in Pune’s Sahakar Nagar area on Wednesday night, triggering panic among local residents and raising fresh concerns over the city’s law-and-order situation.

According to police, the incident took place around 10:10 pm near Shinde High School in Sahakar Nagar. Two youths reportedly arrived on a motorcycle and fired three rounds from a pistol at a man who was standing outside a medical store.

The victim sustained injuries in the attack. Following the firing, the accused fled the scene. Local residents rushed to help the injured youth and admitted him to a nearby private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Upon receiving information about the incident, officers from Sahakar Nagar Police Station reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. A panchnama of the crime scene was carried out, and police recorded the victim’s statement at the hospital.

Based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered. Police suspect that the attack may have stemmed from previous enmity, though the exact motive is yet to be established.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the movement of the attackers and determine the route they used to escape. A city-wide alert and vehicle checking operation have been launched as police continue their search for the suspects.
