Pune, June 12, 2026: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has submitted a formal complaint to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding an independent inquiry into the death of TCS employee Amit Abhay Brahme in Pune.

According to NITES, Amit Brahme, a 48-year-old IT professional, allegedly died by suicide following workplace harassment and humiliation. Reports indicate that he left behind a suicide note naming certain colleagues and detailing the difficulties he allegedly faced at work. Based on a complaint filed by his family members, a criminal case has reportedly been registered and an investigation is currently underway.

In its representation to the state government, NITES stated that the incident has sparked concern among IT professionals, emphasizing that behind every employee is a family and years of dedication and hard work. The organization said no employee should feel isolated or without access to support and justice mechanisms in the workplace.

NITES also highlighted that this is the second employee death linked to Tata Consultancy Services’ Pune operations within a few months, following the death of Sujal Vinod Oswal earlier this year. The union said the two incidents have raised serious questions about workplace culture, employee welfare systems, mental health support, and the effectiveness of grievance redressal mechanisms within large corporate organizations.

The employee union has urged the Maharashtra government to constitute a high-level independent inquiry committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. It has also sought a special inquiry by the Labour Commissioner into workplace practices and employee support systems at TCS.

Additionally, NITES has requested that the company be directed to submit a detailed report on workplace harassment complaints, mental health support mechanisms, and corrective measures implemented following the earlier employee death.

Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, said employees deserve not only career opportunities but also dignity, respect, psychological safety, and confidence that their concerns will be addressed before situations escalate into tragedies.

The organization stated that the findings of an independent inquiry could help strengthen workplace safeguards and employee welfare measures across Maharashtra’s IT sector.
