Pune: PMC And Police Continue Crackdown, Clear 40,000 Sq Ft Of Encroachments In Wanowrie

Pune, June 12, 2026: In a continued drive against illegal encroachments, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in coordination with the police, carried out a major enforcement action at Kakade Ground, clearing approximately 40,000 square feet of encroached land.
The June 12 operation marked the third consecutive joint action undertaken by PMC and police authorities within the past week as part of an intensified effort to remove unauthorized structures and address public safety concerns.
Local residents welcomed the action and appreciated the civic administration for taking a firm stand against establishments and encroachments that had been causing inconvenience, obstructing public spaces, and raising safety concerns in the area.
The drive was held under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, Wanowrie police station.
The operation was carried out by the Construction and Development Department, Zone No. 5, under the supervision of Executive Engineer Santosh Lanjekar, Deputy Engineer Rupali Dhage, Junior Engineer Sopan Rupnar, Assistant Encroachment Inspector Ravi Jadhav, along with the encroachment removal team from the Wanowrie Regional Office.
PMC officials stated that the anti-encroachment drive will continue in the coming days to ensure that public spaces remain accessible and free from unauthorized occupation.
