Mandap Owners Welfare Association stage protest march demanding relaxations in norms

Due to the lockdown and restriction on gatherings the city based event management companies are going through heavy losses. 

The association of mandap owners welfare association in Pune today staged a protest march demanding relaxations in the norms set by the state government.

‘Mandap Owners Welfare Association’ were backed by Pimpri Chinchwad based PEWMA ‘Pune Event and Wedding Management Association’ who jointly held the strike at Pune Collector’s office, demanding the state government to give relaxation on the restrictions imposed on events.

On speaking with Rahul Munot, he said, “If most of the industries have been freed from the restrictions then why is the event industry still restricted from carrying out events. We have been suffering with zero income and maximum debts.”

On being asked about how in the COVID situation would the government allow full fledge events, Nikhil Ahuja, a crucial member of PEWMA, present at the protest said, “If a lawn that holds capacity of 500 people has got just 50 attendees then everyone cancels out the event. And hence, our industry has suffered the most due to mismanagement of the restrictions.” 

The members present at the march expressed that the state government should soon take some steps in and allow them to function smoothly.
