Pune, June 15, 2026: Following the tragic accident at Tandulwadi on the Satara-Solapur highway, where eight people lost their lives after a vehicle plunged into a roadside well, Aam Aadmi Party Maharashtra State Coordinator Amit Mhaske has urged authorities to immediately survey all roadside wells across Pune city and implement necessary safety measures.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Mhaske highlighted a hazardous well located along Bharat Mata Road near Marthopolis School in Dhanori, stating that it poses a serious threat to motorists and pedestrians. He warned that the well is not easily visible to road users, increasing the risk of a major accident in the future.
Mhaske demanded that authorities urgently install robust safety barricades, warning signboards, reflectors, and adequate lighting around the well to prevent any mishap.
He further called upon the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the Public Works Department (PWD), and other concerned agencies to conduct a special survey of all dangerous roadside wells in Pune and take immediate corrective measures to ensure public safety.
“Instead of waiting for a tragedy similar to the Tandulwadi incident to occur in Pune, the administration must act immediately. Protecting citizens’ lives is the government’s foremost responsibility,” Mhaske said.
The AAP leader emphasized that proactive action and preventive safety measures are essential to avoid such fatal accidents and safeguard commuters across the city.
