Pune, June 18, 2026: In a major relief for devotees visiting the revered Bhimashankar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India, the temple administration has relaxed the mandatory online pass booking system for darshan.

The decision comes after numerous complaints from devotees who faced difficulties obtaining online passes due to technical issues and limited availability. Many pilgrims travelling from distant parts of the country reportedly had to return without offering prayers because they were unable to secure a pass.

Direct Darshan Allowed During Morning Hours

To address these concerns, the temple administration has announced that all devotees arriving between 7 am and 11 am will be allowed direct entry for darshan without the need for prior online booking. The move is expected to benefit thousands of pilgrims and make the darshan process more convenient.

The online pass system had been introduced recently to manage crowds and improve visitor facilities. However, the implementation led to several challenges, prompting the administration to revise the arrangement.

Major Infrastructure Work Completed in Record Time

The decision coincides with the completion of significant infrastructure upgrades at the temple complex. Preparations have been underway in anticipation of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik, which is expected to attract a large number of pilgrims to Bhimashankar as well.

To accommodate the anticipated increase in footfall, the temple trust undertook the construction of a new assembly hall and improvements to the temple approach pathways. For this purpose, the temple was closed to devotees from January 9, with the closure later extended until May 31.

Although the project was originally expected to take nearly a year, the work was completed in just five months. Temple authorities credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the temple trust, local residents, and devotees, who supported round-the-clock construction work.

With the new hall now ready and restrictions on online booking eased during designated hours, devotees are expected to enjoy a smoother and more accessible darshan experience at the Bhimashankar Temple.
