During inspections in the Rahatani-Thergaon area, officials penalized a tempo operator for dumping garbage on a public road. A fine of ₹5,000 was imposed after the vehicle was caught disposing of waste illegally.

In another major action, a commercial establishment in Ravet was found burning garbage, leading to a fine of ₹25,000. Civic officials noted that waste burning contributes significantly to air pollution and poses serious health risks to the public.

Meanwhile, under the jurisdiction of the ‘C’ Regional Office, Health Inspector Kshitij Rokade and the Green Marshal team conducted a special inspection drive in the vegetable market area of Ward No. 8. Action was taken against vendors and individuals found using banned plastic bags, littering, and violating sanitation norms. The operation resulted in fines amounting to ₹14,000 and the seizure of nearly 10 kilograms of banned plastic material.

Additionally, a separate case involving violation of the plastic ban attracted a penalty of ₹5,000.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Thengal stated that dumping or burning waste in open areas has serious consequences for both the environment and public health. He urged citizens to strictly follow cleanliness regulations and support the city’s efforts to achieve its cleanliness goals.

PCMC has appealed to residents to segregate wet, dry, sanitary, and hazardous waste at source and hand it over through the municipal waste collection system. The civic body has also encouraged citizens to report individuals or establishments violating sanitation and plastic-ban regulations.
