Pune-Solapur Highway: Massive Traffic Snarl Hits After Multiple Vehicle Breakdowns And Accident
Pune, June 24, 2026: Traffic came to a near standstill on the Pune-Solapur Highway on Wednesday morning following a series of vehicle breakdowns and an accident at multiple locations, leading to severe congestion along the busy stretch.
According to traffic police, a truck suffered a tyre failure and broke down near Bhairobanala Chowk at around 9 am. Adding to the disruption, a PMPML bus broke down further ahead, while an accident occurred near Savatamali Shop, before the 93 Avenue Mall junction. Another truck also broke down at Ramtekdi.
The combined impact of these incidents resulted in massive traffic congestion at Bhairobanala Chowk, Fatimanagar Chowk, and along the stretch from Ramtekdi to Vaiduwadi and Hadapsar.
Authorities managed to remove the stranded vehicles by around 11:30 am. However, with peak office and school-hour traffic adding to the volume of vehicles on the road, the highway remained heavily congested for several hours.
Police Sub-Inspector Atul Kshirsagar of the Wanowrie Traffic Division said efforts were underway to clear the traffic and restore normal vehicular movement on the affected routes.
Traffic police have advised commuters to expect delays and use alternate routes wherever possible until congestion eases completely.
