Pune, June 24, 2026: Residents living near Atria Grande and Dhanashree Aangan in Handewadi have raised serious concerns over worsening civic infrastructure, alleging that years after the area was merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, basic development works remain largely absent.

Following recent rains, large volumes of stormwater have reportedly entered residential premises, causing inconvenience and safety concerns for residents. Citizens claim that the condition of the road outside the societies has deteriorated significantly, with damaged surfaces, potholes and inadequate drainage infrastructure leading to severe waterlogging during monsoon showers.

According to local residents, the road requires complete reconstruction along with the installation of a proper stormwater drainage network and underground sewage line. They argue that temporary repairs are no longer sufficient, as recurring flooding and poor road conditions continue to affect daily life.

The area was officially merged into PMC limits in 2021, but residents allege that civic infrastructure has failed to keep pace with rapid urban development. Over the past few years, several residential projects have come up in the locality, increasing the population substantially. However, residents say essential municipal services are still missing or inadequate.

Citizens have highlighted multiple challenges, including the lack of a reliable water supply system, incomplete sewage infrastructure, delayed MNGL gas connectivity, frequent power-related issues, and the absence of several basic civic amenities expected in an urban residential area.

Residents said they have repeatedly approached various authorities seeking solutions, but progress has been slow. They have urged PMC officials to conduct an on-site inspection and prepare a comprehensive infrastructure development plan for the locality.

With the monsoon intensifying, residents fear that the situation could worsen unless immediate measures are taken to upgrade roads, drainage systems and essential utility services in the area.
