Pune, June 26, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for 24 districts across Maharashtra for Saturday, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
The southwest monsoon has remained active over the state for the past few days, bringing widespread rainfall and providing relief to farmers by accelerating Kharif sowing activities. The IMD has forecast favourable conditions for rainfall to continue over the next five days.

In the Konkan region, Palghar and Sindhudurg are expected to receive light to moderate rain with gusty winds. Mumbai and Thane are also likely to witness light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, Raigad and Ratnagiri have been warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places and remain under a Yellow Alert.
In western Maharashtra, Pune district and the adjoining ghat (hill) areas are likely to experience heavy rain along with thunderstorms and strong winds. Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall, with the IMD urging residents to remain cautious.
Across the Marathwada region, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are likely to receive rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Parbhani and Hingoli.
In north Maharashtra, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may receive light to moderate showers, while Nashik, the Nashik ghat region, and Ahilyanagar are expected to witness thunderstorms with rainfall.
For Vidarbha, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms and rain in Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal, all of which are under a Yellow Alert. However, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Washim are likely to experience comparatively dry weather.
The weather department has advised residents, particularly those in districts under alert, to stay updated with local forecasts, avoid open areas during thunderstorms, and take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds.
