Pune, June 26: A fresh development has emerged in the investigation into the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with police sources claiming that prime accused Siya Goyal requested beer and home-cooked food while in police custody.
Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary are currently in police custody until June 29 after being arrested in connection with the death of Ketan Agarwal, who allegedly died after being pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police are investigating the case as a planned murder.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Goyal and Chaudhary are being questioned separately and are lodged in different lock-ups. During interrogation, Goyal allegedly asked police personnel to provide her with beer and home-cooked food. Officials reportedly rejected the request and informed her that such demands could not be entertained.
Investigators also claimed that neither of the accused has shown visible remorse during questioning. However, these observations are based on police sources and have not been independently verified.
The investigation has also revealed that both accused are allegedly blaming each other for planning the crime. Police sources said Chaudhary claimed he wanted to elope with Goyal, but she opposed the idea, allegedly fearing it would bring disrepute to their families, and instead proposed eliminating Agarwal. Goyal, however, has denied this version and reportedly told investigators that Chaudhary was the mastermind behind the alleged conspiracy.
Police continue to examine CCTV footage, mobile phone records, call data, forensic evidence and other technical inputs as part of the investigation. Officials believe further details may emerge as the probe progresses.
The case has sparked widespread public attention across Maharashtra, with the investigation still underway. No court has yet determined the guilt or innocence of the accused.
