Pune, June 30, 2026: The Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research (Balbharati) has acknowledged printing errors in the Class 4 Mathematics textbook and announced that the mistakes will be corrected in the next edition. In the meantime, revised information will be made available to students and teachers through videos accessible via the textbook’s QR code.

The Class 4 Mathematics textbook has been published in 10 languages. According to the board, a few printing errors have been identified in the Marathi and English medium editions following media reports highlighting the discrepancies.

One of the errors appears on page 109 of both the Marathi and English textbooks, where the date of death of renowned Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan has been incorrectly printed as April 27, 1920. The correct date is April 26, 1920, and the error will be rectified in the next edition.

In the Marathi medium textbook, page 55 contains an error in the “Match the Pairs” exercise, where the phrase “more than 1,000 grams” has been printed instead of the correct “more than 1,000 kilograms.” Meanwhile, the English medium edition contains typographical errors on page 77 involving incorrect currency-related text, which will also be corrected in the revised edition.

To ensure that students and teachers receive the correct information without delay, the textbook board has decided to upload explanatory videos detailing the corrections through the QR codes printed in the textbooks until the updated editions are released.
