Pune, July 1, 2026: Lohagad Fort near Lonavala has witnessed a noticeable rise in tourist footfall following the murder of 26-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal. According to local reports, visitor numbers have increased by nearly 25%, with the cliff where the incident occurred being informally referred to by some tourists and on social media as “Siya’s Point.”

Ketan Agarwal died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The incident was initially believed to be an accident. However, the investigation later took a dramatic turn when police arrested his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to murder him.

The high-profile case has drawn widespread public attention, prompting many visitors to travel to the fort specifically to see the location linked to the crime. Several tourists have been seen asking locals for directions to the spot, while some are taking photographs there. Others continue to visit Lohagad for its scenic beauty and monsoon trekking experience.

Lohagad Fort remains one of Maharashtra’s most popular heritage and trekking destinations, attracting thousands of visitors each year during the rainy season. However, locals say the recent surge in footfall has been largely driven by curiosity surrounding the murder case.

The increased number of visitors has also renewed concerns over safety at the fort. Residents and trekking groups have urged authorities to install protective railings, warning signs, and CCTV cameras at vulnerable locations to prevent accidents and improve security.

Authorities are now facing growing demands to strengthen safety measures and better manage the rising number of tourists visiting the historic fort.
