Pune, July 2, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions in the central part of the city on the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, which will be observed on Friday, July 3, 2026. The changes have been introduced to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate the movement of devotees visiting the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple.

According to the Traffic Branch, heavy congestion is expected around the temple area throughout the day. Acting under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and relevant government notifications, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City, has ordered temporary traffic restrictions and route diversions from 7:30 am onwards.

Motorists travelling from Puram Chowk towards Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road have been advised to use the Alka Talkies Chowk–Fergusson College (FC) Road route instead. Vehicles heading towards Swargate from Shivaji Road should use Jangli Maharaj Road as an alternate route.

Traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Peth will be restricted, with vehicles diverted via Bajirao Road. Other vehicles are also advised to use Jangli Maharaj Road and the designated diversion routes to avoid congestion in the temple vicinity.

The Pune Traffic Police have appealed to commuters to cooperate with the traffic arrangements, follow diversion signs, and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the religious observance.
