Sinhagad Ghat Closed To Tourists On July 6–7 As IMD Issues Red Alert For Pune
Pune, July 6: The Pune Forest Division has temporarily closed the Sinhagad Ghat area to tourists on July 6 and 7 following the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Red Alert for Pune district, warning of extremely heavy rainfall over the next two days.
According to the Forest Department, the Sinhagad Ghat region is highly prone to landslides. Due to the intense rainfall forecast, there is a significant risk of landslides, falling trees, rolling boulders, waterlogging, and other rain-related natural hazards. To ensure the safety of citizens and tourists, entry to the tourist area has been prohibited until further notice. A separate announcement will be issued regarding the reopening of the area.

The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate with the restrictions and avoid visiting the Sinhagad region during the closure period.

- Do not stop near landslide-prone slopes or at the base of hills.
- Avoid crossing streams, drains, or flood-affected areas with strong water currents.
- Strictly follow the instructions issued by the administration, police, and Forest Department officials.
- Do not believe or circulate rumours on social media. Rely only on official updates.
- In case of any emergency, immediately contact the local administration, police, or Forest Department.
