Pune, July 6, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the suspension of the alternate-day water supply schedule from July 7, 2026, following an improvement in water storage levels in the reservoirs supplying the city.

According to an order issued by the PMC Water Supply Department, the decision has been taken in view of the recent rainfall in the dam catchment areas, which has led to a significant increase in reservoir storage.

The civic body had introduced alternate-day water supply from June 15, 2026, after inadequate rainfall until June 14 resulted in low water reserves in the dams serving Pune.

However, with the onset of the monsoon and improved water availability, the PMC has decided to withdraw the water rationing measures from July 7 to July 21, 2026. The decision also takes into account the expected influx of a large number of Warkari pilgrims to Pune during the Ashadhi Wari 2026 pilgrimage.

The order states that after July 21, the civic administration will review rainfall in the dam catchment areas and the prevailing reservoir storage before taking a decision on whether water rationing needs to be reintroduced.

The Water Supply Department has directed all Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution divisions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted water supply across Pune during the suspension period.
