Vicky Kaushal Praises Vir Hirani’s Acting Debut in Pritam & Pedro, Recalls ‘Sanju’ Memories
9 July, 2026: Actor Vicky Kaushal has praised Vir Hirani, son of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, following the success of the OTT series Pritam & Pedro. Congratulating the young actor on his acting debut, Vicky reflected on watching Vir’s journey from assisting behind the scenes on the sets of Sanju to stepping into the spotlight as an actor.
Recalling their time together during the filming of Sanju, Vicky said he first met Vir while he was learning the craft of filmmaking and working as an assistant on set.
“I have known Vir since the time of Sanju. I’ve seen him clap in front of me during the shoots. From the very beginning, he has always been sincere and dedicated. Over the years, he has worked hard, learned so much and grown tremendously. It has been wonderful to watch his journey, and I wish him all the very best,” Vicky said.
Pritam & Pedro marks Vir Hirani’s acting debut and is also Rajkumar Hirani’s first original series for an OTT platform. The show has received positive reviews from both audiences and critics.
Vicky also appreciated the entire cast and crew for their efforts, praising the performances of Vikrant Massey, Arshad Warsi and Mona Singh, along with everyone involved in bringing the series to life.
The series has gained significant popularity across India, trending in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Kannada.
Reacting to the overwhelming response, Rajkumar Hirani thanked viewers for embracing the show, saying the audience’s love had exceeded his expectations.
“The audience has voted with their time. The binge-watching, repeat viewing and overwhelming response to Pritam & Pedro have been truly humbling. It’s heartening to see these characters become a part of conversations across the country.”
He also noted that the show’s success challenges the belief that only dark and gritty content performs well on OTT platforms.
“We were often told that only dark, gritty stories work on OTT, but this response proves that audiences don’t binge genres. They binge stories that make them laugh, move them emotionally and stay with them long after the credits roll.”
With strong audience appreciation and positive industry feedback, Pritam & Pedro has emerged as a successful OTT release, while Vir Hirani’s performance has been widely seen as a promising start to his acting career.
