Mumbai, July 12, 2026: The Maharashtra government will seek a detailed report from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on alleged anti-national activities in and around the Kondhwa area before deciding on the establishment of an office of an Additional Commissioner of Police, Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam informed the Legislative Council on Friday.

Responding to concerns raised during the session, Kadam said the report submitted by the Pune Police Commissioner would be reviewed in consultation with the Chief Minister, following which a decision would be taken on setting up the additional police office in the area.

The issue was raised by BJP MLC Yogesh Tilekar, who expressed concern over crime and alleged anti-national activities in Kondhwa Khurd, Mithanagar, Kausarbaug, and adjoining localities. Referring to past actions by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Tilekar claimed that the incidents in these areas were a matter of concern not only for Pune and Maharashtra but for the country as a whole.

He also alleged that anti-India slogans had been raised in some instances and urged the government to establish a special security cell headed by an officer of the rank of Additional Commissioner of Police. He further demanded deployment of additional police personnel to intensify action against alleged terrorist sleeper cells operating in the area.

Replying to the demand, Kadam said the state government would first obtain a comprehensive report from Pune Police on the issues raised in the House.

“The Pune Police Commissioner will submit a detailed report regarding the concerns over alleged anti-national activities in the area. The report will be discussed with the Chief Minister, and an appropriate decision will be taken on establishing the office of an Additional Commissioner of Police,” Kadam said.

The Minister also assured the House that police strength in Pune would be increased based on operational requirements.

He added that regular combing operations would continue in the area to ensure that no anti-national activities take place and to strengthen law and order.
