Pune, July 13, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has suspended Ashit Vedprakash Jadhav, Superintending Engineer of the Water Supply Department, with immediate effect and ordered a departmental inquiry into his conduct.

The suspension order was issued by Additional Municipal Commissioner Prajit Nair. While the official order does not specify the exact reason for the action, it states that the suspension is linked to an incident that occurred on July 11, 2026.

The order does not reveal the nature of the incident or the circumstances that led to the disciplinary action. It only states that the suspension has been carried out under Section 56(2)(f) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, pending the outcome of a departmental inquiry.

According to sources within the PMC, Jadhav was transferred to the Water Supply Department around six weeks ago but was reportedly dissatisfied with the posting. He subsequently went on a month-long leave and resumed duty on July 1.

Civic sources claim that Jadhav had been seeking a transfer to the Building or Road Department instead of the Water Supply Department.

It is further alleged that after his efforts were unsuccessful, he attempted to secure the transfer through political channels and later sent an objectionable message to the Municipal Commissioner. However, these allegations have not been officially confirmed by the PMC, and the suspension order makes no mention of them.

The suspension order also directs the Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department to complete the departmental inquiry at the earliest. During the inquiry, Jadhav has been prohibited from leaving the Pune Municipal Corporation limits without prior permission from the Municipal Commissioner.
