Pune, July 15: A railway employee’s quick thinking and courage helped save the life of an elderly Warkari who fell from a moving train at Pune Railway Station.

Ashish Waghchaure, an employee of the Signal and Telecommunication Department under Central Railway’s Pune Division, displayed exceptional presence of mind during the incident, earning widespread appreciation.

The incident took place on July 5, 2026, while Waghchaure was on duty at Pune Railway Station. He noticed an elderly man falling from a moving train and facing the imminent danger of being run over.

Without a moment’s hesitation and despite the risk to his own safety, Waghchaure rushed to the spot and pulled the man away from the tracks, preventing what could have been a fatal accident.

According to available information, the rescued man was a Warkari who had come to Pune to witness the Palkhi procession as part of the annual Pandharpur Wari pilgrimage.

Railway officials and citizens have praised Waghchaure’s bravery and swift action, describing him as a real-life hero whose dedication and humanity went far beyond the call of duty.
