Ravet Power Crisis: PCMC Pulls Up MSEDCL Over Repeated Outages, Orders Immediate Action
Pimpri-Chinchwad, July 22, 2026: Frequent power outages in the Ravet area took centre stage during a high-level review meeting convened by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), where Mayor Ravi Landge and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi directed Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) officials to take immediate corrective measures and ensure uninterrupted power supply across the city.
The meeting was held to review pending electricity-related issues affecting residents as well as civic infrastructure, including water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, jackwells, and pumping stations that require reliable power connections.
Ravet Outages Among Key Concerns
Officials discussed the recurring power disruptions in Ravet along with delays in providing new electricity connections for municipal projects. The review also covered pending transformer installations, distribution panels (DPs), feeder pillars, Ring Main Units (RMUs), meter installations, approval of technical estimates, double-run cables, PD meters, electricity billing complaints, and coordination during road excavation works.
Instructions to MSEDCL
Mayor Landge and Commissioner Dr. Suryawanshi instructed MSEDCL to expedite technical approvals and cost estimates to prevent delays in civic development projects. They also directed the utility to complete pending electricity connections and transformer installations within stipulated timelines.
The civic administration stressed that power supply to water treatment and sewage treatment facilities must not be disrupted under any circumstances, considering their critical role in public services.
Focus on Citizen Services
The officials further instructed MSEDCL to resolve complaints related to electricity supply, metering, and billing without delay. They also emphasised better coordination with PCMC before carrying out road excavation works and directed that roads be restored promptly after completion of utility work.
Mayor Ravi Landge said providing every resident with safe, reliable, and uninterrupted electricity remains a top priority and urged MSEDCL to respond more proactively to public grievances.
Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi highlighted the need for timely approvals, electricity connections, and technical clearances to ensure that municipal infrastructure projects progress without interruption.
Senior MSEDCL officials assured the civic administration that pending works would be completed within the prescribed timelines. Both PCMC and MSEDCL agreed to strengthen coordination to improve electricity services and prevent similar issues in the future.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne, Leader of the House Prashant Shitole, Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir, Additional Commissioners Trupti Sandbhor and Vikrant Bagade, along with MSEDCL Chief Engineer Sunil Kakade, Superintending Engineer Sinhajirao Gaikwad, Executive Engineers Somnath Munde, Lahanu Vishwanath, and other senior officials.
