Pune, July 23: The Rajgad (Velhe)-Kelad Road (Madhe Ghat route) in Velhe taluka has been closed for vehicular movement after a portion of the road collapsed due to land subsidence, posing a safety risk to commuters.

The affected stretch is located on Major District Road (MDR) No. 106 at kilometre 46/00 near Rajgad (Velhe)-Keld Road. Considering public safety concerns, Pune District Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has issued an order to completely shut the route for traffic until further instructions.

Following the closure, residents from the Keld and surrounding villages have been advised to use an alternative route to reach Rajgad (Velhe) and Pune.

Authorities have issued the traffic restriction under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, along with powers granted under the Maharashtra Government Home Department notification dated May 19, 1990.

Officials have advised commuters to avoid the damaged stretch and use the alternate route until repair work is completed and further orders are issued.
