As per the sero survey carried in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits, over 9 lakh were exposed to the virus.
Cases in PCMC have shown a gradual decline since the beginning of Navratri festival, but the situation can still go out of hand, as suggested by the Sero surveillance survey, jointly initiated by DY. Patil Medical College and PCMC.
According to the information recently shared by the commissioner of PCMC, Shravan Hardikar, over 8,46,512 people have been exposed to the COVID19, 34 % of the total population were exposed.

The random sampling survey concluded with 34.9 % IGG antibodies developed in the age group of 18 – 25 years and 35.5 % in age 51 – 65 years. The survey took ten days for completion, as 200 clusters were formed with 25 samples from each cluster.
While addressing the media on Monday, Hardikar said, “This test was very crucial as it gave us data on the entire population and the high risk age groups or communities. We cannot put aside the fact that it will be helpful for us in treating the patients and managing the treatment for the entire PCMC.”
Upon being asked that the winter season anyway impacts the COVID, Hardikar answered that, “We cannot really rule out the possibility of a second wave. Let’s not take the chance, so, crowd gathering will still not be allowed.”
The commissioner has also hinted that there was no rise in the cases during Navratri, but in Diwali there could be a rise in the peak.
