PMC takes strict action against societies not maintaining eco-friendly initiatives, stops giving rebate in property tax

Pune Municipal Corporation on Friday January 8,2021 informed that societies / organisations failing to maintain eco-friendly initiatives for which they are receiving 5 percent rebate in their property tax, PMC will roll back the rebate offered as these establishments as it was observed that these societies didn’t maintain the facilities despite taking rebate.

PMC further stated that over 75038 establishments are availing 5 percent rebate in property tax in Pune city.

Also out of 75038 establishments, 3081 are taking the benefits but are not maintaining the projects. PMC with immediate effect rolls back the benefits offered to these establishments.

Pune city has 692 bulk generators, wherein 30 sites had no proper maintenance of the projects which was evident in the recently held survey. Hence the decision was taken recently to discontinue the rebate in property tax facility for these establishments.

PMC has issued an ultimatum to these establishments to rectify the issues in these projects and make them functional till March 31, 2021. If they fail to do so and still continue they shall be liable for fine under the Solid Waste Management Rules , 2016 and the civic body shall impose fine of Rs 5,000 for first time, Rs 10,000 for second time and Rs 25,000 for the third time. Also PMC shall not pick up their waste.
