Nana Kate threatens to stage protest against inadequate water supply in Pimple Saudagar

The areas of ward 28 in Pimple Saudagar or Rahatani are seen as a role model for smart city development, but the area has been facing a trouble in water supply since past couple of years. Reportedly, Kunal Icon, Blue Woods, Orovet, Ginger, Rose Valley, Dwarka Lord, Samruddhi Park, Purva Residency, and Flora Residency are few such societies that have received no response to their constant complaints on irregular and low pressure water supply.  

However, the area corporator has heard the voice of citizens, and along with area corporator, Sheetal Kate, he is going to stage a protest against the dereliction of PCMC Official, Ramdas Tambe and Ajay Surywanshi, who have been constantly informed about the situation, but no action has been taken yet. These officials have been giving excuses related to feeder problem, pipe leakage or electricity issues, as stated by Nana Kate. 

While talking to Pune Pulse, Nana said, “PCMC officials have been neglecting our regular follow ups on the seemingly ceaseless problem of low pressure water supply in ward 28 for the last couple of years.”

Vinod Surve, a resident of Kunal Icon society confirmed that the low pressure and irregular water supply has caused immense problems. He said, “We have been facing this problem for the last twelve years. This problem occur mostly during two to three months of year end; we are forced to bring water tankers.”

Upon reaching out PCMC Official, Ajay Surywanshi, he said, “The population of the area has grown extensively in the past couple of years. We have not reduced any flow of water supply to the area, but it is mainly because of the population rise that the water is received at low pressure by the residents.” He further said, “We might have to give them the supply from other which would result in shifting the problems. In order to resolve this, we will have to wait for the above head water tank in Saudagar to get ready. The tank is ready, only pipelines will have to be laid. The supply from this tank may resolve the issues.” 

PCMC official has also suggested that there may be leakages, which, too, could be one of the factors of low pressure water supply, which are being repaired under AMRUT YOJANA. But, Nana Kate has warned the PCMC Commissioner, Shravan Hardikar and urged to resolve thr issue or the local Corporators shall stage dharna.
