As Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up for his poll campaign in Mumbai on May 15 and 17, 2024, commuters in the city are advised to plan their travel in advance due to road closures and traffic disruptions. The Prime Minister’s road show, scheduled as part of the campaign for the Fifth Phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections, will impact several key routes in the city.

One major route affected by the Prime Minister’s visit is the LBS Marg, which will be closed from 2 pm to 10 pm on Thursday, May 15. Additionally, there will be no parking allowed on the 14th and 15th along LBS Marg and the main road connecting to it, within a distance of 100 meters. This closure will affect northbound and southbound traffic on the Mahul-Ghatkopar road from Meghraj Junction to RB Kadam Junction during the specified hours.

To accommodate the Prime Minister’s road show, the Mumbai Transport Department advises citizens to use alternative routes for travel. The route for the road show will commence from R City Mall, Ashoka Mill, proceeding to Parswanath Chowk via RB Kadam Chowk.

The police said, due to this congregation on such a large scale on L.B.S. Road, the movement of vehicular traffic will be effected on adjoining roads in the vicinity of L.B.S. road.

Hence following traffic arrangement is made.

1.Road Closed for Vehicular Traffic

– L.B.S. Road from Gandhi Nagar Junction to Naupada Junction and on Mahul-Ghatkopar road from Meghraj Junction to R.B. Kadam Junction shall be closed for all type vehicular movement on both the bound from 14.00 hrs to 22.00 hrs.

2. Road shall be Closed for vehicular traffic as per requirement.

1. Vehicular traffic On Andheri – Ghatkopar Link Road from Ghatkopar Junction to Sakinaka Junction.

2. Vehicular traffic towards Gulati petrol pump junction from Hiranandani Kailash.

3. Vehicular traffic form Golibar Maidan and Ghatkopar Metro Station (W) towards Sarvodaya Junction.

3. Alternate routes

1. Eastern Express Highway, 2.Western Express Highway, 3. Andheri-Kurla Road,4.Saki Vihar Road, 5.MIDC Central Road, 6. Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), 7.Sion- Bandra Link Road, 8. Jogeshwari Vikroli Link Road (JVLR).

“Citizens and motorists are appealed to plan their journey accordingly and use alternate routes to reach their desired destinations,” Mumbai Police said in the traffic notification.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will conduct a road show from Ghatkopar to Mulund, where he will campaign for Mihir Kotecha. The outcome of this campaign and its impact on voter sentiment will be closely observed. As Mumbai prepares for the Prime Minister’s visit, commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience caused by road closures and traffic congestion.
