On Sunday, March 13, 2021, the total count of COVID cases surged to 1, 14, 754 cases in the PCMC limits, with 728 positive cases on the same day. The regular data suggests that the daily count of positive cases are on rise with no possible depletion observed in the count. Amidst the growing count, the average count of tests that is observed amidst the booming rise is 4000 tests a day, increased from the previous count of 2000 tests a day.

The newly appointed commissioner had suggested in one of his press briefings about possible increase in nunber of tests per day from 2000 tests. However, the sudden unexplained rise in the count of cases has forces the PCMC hospitals to increase testing.

“The condition is worrysome, but our planning is efficient enough to tackle any crisis,” said Dr. Pavan Salve.

“We have government hospitals along with private ones who are equipped enough to tackle the rise in patients after experiencing the situation since past one year,” said Dr. Salve.

Considering no shortage of beds even when cases are rising with 700 patients on an average, the dependence on home isolation is increased.
