Pune : Coach canteen at Ghorpadi Diesel Shed of Central Railway inaugurated
In Pune Division, Diesel Shed at Ghorpadi has been functioning since 1982 where approx. eight hundred plus employees work round the clock in three shifts. Considering the requirement of staff welfare, a decent staff canteen was inaugurated at Diesel shed Ghorpadi on November 30, 2023.
This canteen has been built by the employees of Diesel Loco Shed, Pune by modifying an old condemned coach. This canteen will be operated in a condemned rail coach provided by the Mechanical Department.
The proposal of canteen will help Railways to fetch a good amount of revenue along with providing welfare to the employees. The canteen is outsourced to Quinn India, Bangalore.
In the presence of smt. Indu Dubey (Divisional Railway Manager) and other Railway Officials graced the inaugural function from Railway along with Syed Hasnain Ashraf proprietor of Quinn India.
Provision of Canteen will help the work force to concentrate on their respective jobs effectively without going outside to meet the food/snacks requirement especially at odd hours. Since the loco maintenance activity is a strenuous job and round the clock activity, thus a refreshing break is an essential requirement of the staff in order to bring accuracy and efficiency in the work.
This canteen facility will also tackle the needs of employees coming from long distances for attending their duties by serving them a good quality and delicious food at reasonable rates. The canteen facility was the need of the hour for such a large force concentrated at one place, since the staff is not supposed to go out of premises for tea/breakfast/lunch, especially at odd hours. Hence this work is done absolutely for staff benefit/welfare.
Pantograph test bench was also inaugurated during this program. By setting up this test bench, the quality of pantograph will be checked, which will definitely reduce the failure of locos. Under the guidance of Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Diesel), Shri D.K. Tripathi the overall function was concluded gracefully.
