UN Food agency says world food price index remains unchanged in November

Pune: In November, the global price index of the United Nations food agency remained steady, as the decrease in international cereal prices was balanced out by the rise in prices of vegetable oils.

The Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) price index, which tracks the most globally traded food commodities, averaged 120.4 points in November, 10.7% lower than last November.

In a distinct analysis concerning the supply and demand of cereals, the FAO has revised its projection for global cereal production in the current year to 2.823 billion metric tons, which is an increase of 0.9% from 2022 and surpasses the previous estimate of 2.819 billion metric tons.
